In the past decade, while traditional manufacturing declined by a third, distilling actually saw 4% growth. Distillery

Economically Stable and Sustainable

In 2009, the Tennessee General Assembly amended the statute that limited the distillation of drinkable spirits to just three counties. After the amendment, distillery businesses were established in 41 additional counties. In July of this year, a new bill was signed by the governor that allows for distilling in any county, including those of dry status. Distilling in a dry county such as Morgan County will not affect any liquor laws currently in place. Brushy Mountain Group is not interested in changing any laws regarding liquor by the drink.

According to the Kentucky Distillers’ Association, distilling is more stable than traditional manufacturing. In the past decade, distilling saw 4% growth, while traditional manufacturing declined by 33%.

A DISTILLERY WILL DRIVE TOURISM TO MORGAN COUNTY

Tourism is Tennessee’s second largest industry. According to the U.S. Travel Association, tourism expenditures in the State of Tennessee have increased every year for six consecutive years. More than 50 million people visit Tennessee each year. The U.S. Travel Association estimates tourism is responsible for a $14 billion impact on the state.
